A good high flowing racing exhaust system is great for maximum power output but the drawbacks of this are the excessive noise these systems tend to make. Silencers have been developed to help “silent” the noise for vehicle operation on the street. Unfortunately these silencers do create restrictions and cause loss of power. The same technology that went into the Apexi PS Revolution exhaust system can now be found on the Apexi Active Tail silencer (ATS). These silencer works on a spring load valve that closes or opens based on exhaust gas pressure. For normal street driving with light throttle acceleration, the active silencer will stay closed for effective sound suppression. At full throttle operation, the exhaust gas pressure will activate and open the valve allowing full exhaust flow output.
